Presenter Training
We have a complete Broadcast Standard studio available in which we train potential presenters. At first glance it looks daunting, but is actually quite easy to operate. The console operates 3 microphone channels, 3 mini-disc players, 3 CD players, a satellite feed for the news, a telephone link and two computer channels.
Youth Training
We will provide places for young people between 13 and 18 to do a training course at our studio. The course is for 4-6 hours, over as many weeks, and we will issue a course certificate to all who complete it.
We are now looking for enthusiastic 13-18 year olds who would like to receive some free training on the new course. Anyone interested, email studio@tmcrfm.co.uk and we'll get back to you. Applicants MUST live in the Transmission area (5Km radius from Thorne town centre)
The Desk
We use a Soundcraft RM-105 professional mixing desk. This features desk remote starts for the CD and MD players.
All of the equipment in use is of broadcast standard, we know our ideas are good, we know the people involved are good, so we want to sound good too.
Computer aided playlists
The computer system contains a playout system which will automatically pick a selection of music, or can be manually driven to create a playlist of tracks for a show.
We have a library containing thousands of tracks from the 1920's to current charts. OK, we don't have every song every released, but are confident that we can match, if not beat, many other stations with our choice of songs that will be played on TMCR.
We don't have a fixed playlist of the same 20 to 30 tracks that repeat all day long, if you hear the same song twice in a day then chances are it's a mistake.
Training sessions
Training sessions will be held as and when we can
We're looking for more people to join us in many roles as we commence full time broadcasting. Email us at the studio and we can give you a call for a chat, or invite you in to see us.
We don't just want disc-jockeys, we want PRESENTERS. People who can talk about local events and not just 'coming up in the next half hour we've music from...' People who know about music and people who have a passion for their community.
It's not just about coming in to play a few songs then going again. EVERYONE involved in this station will be involved in many other things, answering the phone, making the tea, helping to raise awareness, gaining advertising contacts, outside broadcasts, visiting places - when you go out of the door, feel like you've given something to YOUR Community.
